Intended use

Good side projects stall because the right teammates never find them.

Nexus turns a social feed into a project marketplace. A pitch lists the exact roles it needs, and developers are matched by the skills on their profiles rather than by follower counts.

Decisions

  1. Pitches are structured. Each pitch names its stack and open roles, which makes matching a query instead of a guess.
  2. One query for search. Multi-field skill search runs as a single Django Q-object query across models.
  3. Kill the N+1. The feed maps related records in memory first, cutting database round-trips by about 90%.

Limitations & next steps

  • Matching is keyword-based; it doesn't yet understand that FastAPI and Flask are close.
  • Next: embedding-based skill similarity and team-fit suggestions.
